This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

About Christian Vandehaar
I am a pastel artist from Altoona, Iowa. Currently I am starting to hold solo shows now that I have enough art pieces but have participated in local group shows/competitions in the last few years. I have received Best of Show at the Iowa State Fair in 2009. I received Best of Show of Emerging Iowa Artists at the nationally prestigious Des Moines Arts Festival in 2011. My pastel drawings concern small family farms and the relationships among family members as well as the farm. Most drawings have an art history reference and a biblical reference. My goal is to evoke an emotion or memory by those who are connected to agriculture, whether it be by directly living on one or knowing a family member who did. I use composition, color, and...
